2017 Lauksnos International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival was the first event of its kind in Lithuania, representing traditional cultural elements protected by UNESCO: traditional oral, musical culture and folk art masterpieces of nations. Lauksnos Festival was granted the patronage of the Lithuanian National Commission for UNESCO.

2017 Klaipėda was the Lithuanian capital of culture, we gave Lauksnos (Prussian for lights, stars) International Intangible Cultural Heritage Festival of exclusive content to city residents and visitors. The festival presented only oral traditions, forms of expression, traditional crafts of intangible cultural heritage protected by UNESCO, and directly and indirectly focused on relevant cultural heritage protection problems and possibilities. The audience was  introduced to a wide range of protected and protectable traditional cultural elements from the unique Lithuanian, Latvian, Seto, Macedonian, Georgian forms of polyphony to the Spanish flamenco, vibrant Croatian music playing or Bulgarian Bistritsa ritual singing and dancing or the impressive masquerade ritual. Events of the four-day festival programme, taking place on 13-16 July 2017, was held at Klaipėda Drama Theatre, in Theatre Square, Clock Museum yard, Centre of Ethnic Culture and other spaces of the city. In addition to traditional concert forms, festival guests was able to enjoy demonstration of traditional arts and crafts, film screenings, and exhibitions, as well as to participate in open discussions.
